Yellow Wagtail on a Rosehip
On one of my countless photography trips I was able to take some pictures of this beautiful yellow wagtail on a rosehip. In combination with the green background I think it is a very harmonice picture. The yellow, the green, the red and the brown colors in the picture are pleasing to my eyes. The yellow wagtail is a beautiful yellow bird that is breeding in Europe and can be found in places with a lot of open grassland and some bushes. Probably the best place where I found this bird in bigger quantities is the eastern part of Austria with the grassland attached to the Lake Neusiedler.

The yellow wagtail lives in marshland, meadows and farmland, and it is hunting about on the ground, chasing insects disturbed by the feet of livestock. Yellow wagtails nest on the ground or in long grass, using plants, grasses and stems to build a cup-shape which they line with fur.
