Hawfinch on the tree

Eventhough it is not a pretty seldom bird I couldn only take pictures of the Hawfinch on rare occations in winter till now. The hawfinch usually inhabits deciduous forests during the spring to have offspring, often in trees that produces fruits, convinient for them to pick their food of their breeding trees. It is one of the more difficult species to spot since it is a more shy bird and I havn't seen it around the city of Linz for example. At the Wetlands of the Traun River I was lucky and found this bird sitting on a branch that still had now green and it was visit up ther very good although the branches were in the way and I couldn't get a clear picture of the bird.

Since the bird is feeding mostly on seeds as you can see on its beak form it is possible to find it at the bird feeder in winter here and I have to lie in wait for this bird next winter at a bird feeder. Maybe then I can get some better shots of the bird without the disturbing branches in front. Eventhough I tried some different angles I couldn't get a clear shot without the branches. Maybe next winter I will be more successful.
