Was AOC really about 'to deck' a heckler?

Alex Stein, a guy I’d never heard of before, who the New York Post describes as a “right-wing instigator,” heckled Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez on the steps of the Capitol yesterday, rudely shouting at her: “You’re my favorite big-booty Latina… You look very beautiful in that dress. You look very sexy. Look at that booty on AOC.”

If you watch the video, you will see that AOC’s response is not at all what she claimed it was. She posted on Twitter: “I was actually walking over to deck him because if no one will protect us then I’ll do it myself but I needed to catch a vote more than a case today.” It’s a cute line, but is it true?

The video reveals no physically threatening moves, gestures, or facial expressions from AOC. She was NOT “walking over to deck him.” Instead, she flashed a peace sign at him, which meant. . . what exactly? Peace? Love? AOC wasn’t even alive in the ‘60s, when we used that symbol to show our opposition to the Vietnam War.

The rude jerk who called her names is not a public servant, elected by the people. We expect more -- and should expect more -- from members of Congress and from presidents than we expect from protesters and hecklers.

Even when I agreed with Trump's policies, I still deplored his ugly name-calling and his frequent falsehoods. AOC's false braggadocio should not be applauded, and her expressed intent to physically assault a rude guy should be called out as unacceptable. If she had, in fact, "decked him," then she would have been guilty of committing a criminal battery against an annoying putz.
