All night 'Hackathon' in London
Hackathons originated in the US as part of the so-called 'cyberpunk' culture of the 1990s. The idea is to bring together techies and computer coders to crack a problem whilst providing fast food.
The Judiciary (in England and Wales) has announced an event in a secret location in London in conjunction with Legal Geek and the Society for Computers and Law. The event runs from noon on 1 July 2017 and lasts for 24 hours.
The participants will be invited to design the planned on-line court and teams will be invited to design tools, solutions, systems and technologies so that on-line litigants can submit their legal claim, organise their documents and negotiate settlements.
The event announcement promises to supply pizzas and coffee" in great quantities". Techies are expected to work through the night.
