Grain Run, Lessons, Eczema Battle Continues - Tuesday

The moon was quite bright yesterday morning as I headed to get grain in town. The picture kinda catches it since I was driving at the time. I was out of the house a bit later than I had hoped as I didn't wake up until 5am, but I actually slept through the night so that was a plus.

I had a full load of empty barrels on the trailer and in the truck bed which made getting the 4 barrels of grain a bit tricky. I ended up loading the full barrels into the bed of the truck, empties on the trailer and in the bed of the truck with one in the back seat. The grain was all dry and unused except for a part of one barrel so it wasn't very heavy in the truck, just bulky.

Next stop was to drop off the 6 empty shorty barrels at the Steam Plant. Talk about a late morning, the sunrise was not far off and the stacks were well lit by the oncoming daylight.

They got a nice new heavy gate installed for the brewery as the chain link was not very secure. I chucked all the barrels over the fence and then put the 3 empties in, 2 in the bed and one on the back seat of the truck.

I stopped and dropped the 3 empties at the third brewery then headed for home. I knew being half an hour later would mean some shittier traffic and I was right, at least in the city. Once on the bypass the traffic was nil and made the trip home easy.

Nicely the 3 barrels of dry grain fit into the two empty garbage cans and the one empty drum. It is killer when this happens since it more than doubled my bird feed supply. I was down to the drum and one can of feed so this will get me by for another couple of weeks longer. I even had to finish emptying one drum into their feeder which ended up over half full. The brewing grain is NOT as nutritious as the bird feed but it does them fine on short stints.

All the grain the past few days had my back pretty well torched and I found myself not doing much the r4est of the day. I spent time working on my various lessons and a lot of time dealing with my again deteriorating skin. My eczema has had a resurgence upon our return home and I am in full counteroffensive mode now trying to keep it at bay or make it retreat. I am trying to do it without the prednisone but may have to resort back to it if it doesn't calm down soon.

Today I will get the chips hauled to the bird hut and spread out, there is general post winter cleanup that I can start in the areas the snow has melted off enough, the boys have wrestling practice tonight, and I have cleaning and organizing to keep working on around the house.
