Cold, Meeting, Axe & Knife Throwing: October 30 2019
Brr. It is mighty cold outside the past days. Yesterday was the first day with my new phone which meant I could use the @actifit app again. My old phone’s battery is only good for 30% of the charge and the sensors are super stiff which don’t register movement so I wasn’t able to use the app for 10 days.
Yesterday was a bit of a wash. I took J to school in the morning then spent the bulk of the morning futzing around inside. At 11:15 I went to pick up J from school as they had an early out to begin their 4 day weekend then at 12:15 @stryeyz Picked me up and we went to our parent teacher conference. I can only say, “HOLY CRAP WOW!” at what we heard. We have known our oldest is smart but he has been given light testing already that is showing him to be at the end of 2nd grade level in reading and language. He is 2 months into his kindergarten school year.
In the afternoon I worked on my New Throwing Axe, cutting the handle to length and testing it out with a number of throws. I have the axe handle cut to 12 inches long which makes the whole axe a bit over 14 inches in length. This gives me a throw of about 12 to 14 foot distance or 1 rotation and just about 20 feet for 2 rotations.
After getting my axe setup I spent a little time working on my knife throwing. I have been playing with my technique trying to build the most comfortable an effective throw, but with my new sets of knives arriving today I will have to do a little readjusting to my throw since they will be weighted different than my current knives.
Today I have to get grain, then take the boys to @stryeyz work for trick or treating then this afternoon/evening we will take them out again to a neighborhood in Spokane for a bit of house to house. It is not quite as cold now thankfully but still winter has set in like an anchor.
