How my garden grows

Not only have I been paying attention to The Corner garden,I've been working on re-establishing my herbs and generally feeding and nurturing.

There are some herbs I've struggled to grow, and some are beginning to settle and flourish: sage, tarragon and chives.

This plant has survived winter and that it's both flowering and has new growth, fills me with hope. I look forward to burnt sage butter....

When we moved here, we brought a tarragon plant with us. It flourished until the drought killed it. This is the third plant - having struggled not only to get one to grow, but to find one. I'm hoping that I've found the right spot and that, come December, I'll be able to make tarragon vinegar.

Like me, none of these is fond of winter. I was anxious that the chives would not re-emerge from their cold slumber and am thrilled that they have.

This rambling rose is self-sown. The Husband did not believe it was what it is - exactly the same plant as our other hedge. It came up in a very awkward spont, so we transplanted it. He also didn't believe it would grow - we laughed about both... That it is, and it has....

Finally, this a yellow rose - a gift, in honour of The Husband, and which is covered in buds. He loved yellow roses and we'd planned to replace the one that the drought killed so this is bitter sweet.
