Man sieht sie überall auf den Deichen von Fehmarn bei der Arbeit, die vierbeinigen Landschaftspfleger. Meist in Gruppen halten sie die Grasnarbe kurz. Gleichzeitig düngen sie den Boden.
So sorgen sie für einen niedrigen, aber dichten Bewuchs der die Erde hält und den Deich vor Ausspülungen schützt.
One sees them everywhere on the dikes of Fehmarn at work, the four-legged landscape keepers. Mostly in groups they keep the turf short. At the same time they fertilize the soil.
Thus they provide a low but dense vegetation that holds the earth and protects the dike from rinsing out.
