In Korean, Hibiscus Syriacus is called Mugunghwa. This flower is the national flower of the Republic of Korea. The flowers do not have a festive look or smell strong enough, so it looks ordinary. However, this flower is considered to reflect the national character of Korean people.

For Koreans, Mugunghwa symbolizes diligence, gentleness, and steadfastness.

Although liked long ago, mugunghwa was ignored because the Korean rulers prefer the pear as a symbol. Mugunghwa was chosen as the national flower by the Korean people during the Japanese occupation (1910-1945) and was widely planted as a symbol of resistance to voice independence.

Mugunghwa flowers bloom for 100 days, July to October, longer than any interest. Other plant flowers wilt in a day, but mugunghwa fresh for days. This nature inspires the Korean people in times of suffering due to colonialism.

Aegukga Song (Korean National Song) composed in 1907, one of his poems reads "mugunghwa samcheolli hwaryeo gangsan" which means "3000-li charm of the whole country covered by mugunghwa. Korean leaders often include the determination of mugunghwa flowers in speeches to raise national awareness.
