An Unexpected Happening

An unexpected treat. I received a ticket for this picnic. The only details I had about it were the time and place. I knew no one there but said, hey, let me bring my camera and see what happens. I kept it simple with my good ol' nifty fifty aka Canon 50mm fixed lens. Here's what came of it. Starting as an outsider and ending in intimate moments. The power of a person behind a lens is magnificent. If you're reading this, and you're thinking, 'great idea, I want to try that' or 'yes, I've done that, and it was ____' then I say excellent!

However, if you're reading this and you're thinking, 'I could never do something like that. Go somewhere new, where you know no one. I'm not outgoing enough for it.' Guess what? The camera is your perfect tool for the job. It's like a superpower! You can be as social or as quiet as you like. You can shoot from a distance or get in close. You can stop to chat or just keep it moving. You can even leave whenever you want without having to say massive goodbyes!

The camera truly is a wonderful tool. Capable of exposing opportunities. Allowing you to find out many things, about the world and yourself.

This was my first time shooting a spontaneous event like this. Mind you, I was not invited to take photographs, but by the end of the evening, multiple guests wanted my contact and even wanted me to shoot another event of theirs. You never know what could happen. Just go and shoot!
