night hike
Saturday evening. It's dark already after 5 pm. We planned an evening hike in the woods with family and friends. headlamps and everything.
Good six kilometers of hike in two hours. The evening was warm, 7 degrees. Kids were playing catch all the time and they did much more than six kilometers.
It was fun, it was a small adventure, it was something you don't do every day or night.
The light of Headlamps playing on branches,
Illuminating the dark,
Giving substance to the shadows.
The laugh of the kids running around,
Slipping and falling,
Standing up and running again.
The quiet talking, sometimes a joke,
Sound of dry leaves under your feet,
Darkness around you is real.
Pulling normality in,
Forcing madness out,
Being sane for one lovely evening.
