AFROBEAT TO THE WORLD

To determine which genre of music is most popular might require a little bit of research, at least that is what I think. Even if that is the case, I will be writing based on what I think, whether it is wrong or right. Nevertheless, I might eventually be right with my thoughts.

I have always been a lover of Afro music; as a matter of fact, it is normal for me to consider it the best. But then, I also think it is the most popular, not just because it is my favourite. To be specific, I think Afrobeat is the most popular of all genres. My major reason for considering it the most popular is particularly based on how rampant I feel the genre has become globally.

Despite how convinced I am that Afrobeat is the best, I do not disregard the fact that biases might set in at some point. Nevertheless, paying attention to how this local genre has become an international phenomenon makes it seem like I am right after all.

Beyond having won several awards, top Afrobeat musicians have become so popular that they are on the lips of most young people globally; Afrobeat has become more of an international lifestyle. I might not have travelled around the world, but social media says it all. I only hope social media is not being deceptive about this.

I might not have travelled around the world, but the rate at which Afrobeat is sung on social media says a lot about how much it is on the lips of young people. Some hit Afrobeat songs sometimes end up becoming a kind of social media anthem for a while before another trending song takes over. It is more like most Afrobeat hit musicians have gained fans globally for themselves.

The energetic generation in which we find ourselves is characterised by a dance, dance, dance kind of life, and this is absolutely what Afrobeat offers. I guess it is most suitable for this generation after all, and that is no doubt enough to make it the most popular genre. It is probably even the case that there is no trace of bias in my opinion after all. I might be a lover of Afrobeat, but I particularly enjoy the easy-going ones. Moreover, the facts I have stated are given, or at least I think so.

Be that as it may, I think Afrobeat is the most popular genre, and what I have stated above are the reasons for my opinion. In my own judgement, it has become the most enjoyed globally, and until there is another like it, I think it is the most popular music genre.
