the house where i grew up was situated by a small pond that was part of a larger watercourse. there have been great blue herons nesting upstream of the pond for about 6 decades. there are several good shallow feeding areas with fish, frogs, insects and maybe even an occasional snake on the far shore of the pond. one of them is visible from the garden by the house. that's where i took this reflection shot the last time i visited. it's cool to see the bird's reflection in the water and it's also very nice to witness it's graceful flight. with a wingspan of about 2 meters it makes everything else seem so small, even the pond.
