‎As humans, we all pass through different phases of life, as we journey through ups and downs we acquire experience but not every experience is pleasant. As long as human lives, we are bound to experience some shameful moments, it might not be grand but enough to make us unworthy of living. One of the most funny thing about shameful experience is that, it always sticks with the brain, it doesn't matter how long a person lives, whenever a person is asked about such an experience, it feels like it was just yesterday.

‎Speaking of shameful moments, I have had a couple of it but this one I'm about to share, I don't think I have ever spoken about it on this platform. It was not something grand but it marks an unforgettable date in my life.

‎Whenever I see teenagers so head bent on getting admission no matter the cost, I wonder if they are mentally prepared for the things that awaits them within the four corners of the institution they are so passionate about. A school is like a zoo filled with all kinds of creatures, everyone chasing after their goals and objectives regardless of how it affects others.

‎I remember like it was yesterday, the day I decided to start my admission clearance in moshood Abiola Polytechnic, Abeokuta. It is one of the most stressful experience that every student in this institution is subjected to. You might have gained admission but until you complete your clearance, you are yet to become a student of this institution.

‎This exercise can take weeks or even a month depending on how determined a student is in getting it done. I started mine early and I'm glad I did because I faced some challenges along the line, something about my SSCE testimonial. After I manage to acquire that, I discovered lecture was already ongoing, so I decided to join the class.

‎On the first day of attending lecture, the first lecture of the day was introduction to advertising by a lecturer named Dr. wasiu. When I got into the class, there was no lecturer in the class, so I strolled in through the front door, trying to get a sit, while I was trying to do that, the lecturer walked in and I didn't even notice, I wasn't the only one. This lecturer is not that tall, he looks like a regular teenager, if you don't don't know him, you might even think he is a student.

‎The moment he got in, those that recognised him were already aiming for their seats, we are all freshers and only people who had attended lectures a couple of times were able to know who is who. So this lecturer started picking people out and asked them to stand on the stage in the auditorium. Unluckily, I was one of them. I was reluctant at first but when I saw people obeying him with no questions asked I realised he is definitely somebody.

‎After he was done, he got on the stage and stated giving a speech about indecent dressing, that was when I realised I was in trouble. The thing is that, I didn't dress for lecture that day, I entered the school just to complete my clearance. My dressing wasn't that bad but this lecturer had a thing for people that dress casually to his class, especially if your foot wear is flat, it doesn't matter if it is designer, he calls everything slippers and that was the mistake I made that day.

‎The thing about standing in front of the student in an auditorium is that, everyone's eyes is on you, that was already embarrassing enough for me but when this man started talking, the things he was saying added more fire to the already shameful situation. The funny aspect was that, it was my first day in class and having to go through this on my first day, it was like a bad mojo for me.

‎Though compared to other students standing beside me my dressing was still a lot better, some of them wore crazy jeans and all kinds of inappropriate wears. If only I had worn a shoe or sandals, I would have escaped. Those that their mode of dressing was beyond what he could tolerate, they were sent out, while some of us were allowed to remain in the class with a warning, believe me I would have preferred I was sent out of the class because having to walk through the class while everyone stares at me like a plague was the worst part of it.

This write-up was inspired by weekly prompt "‎That one embarrassing moment I will never forget." in hive student connect community.
