There is a lot of wild stuff over social media these days fuelled by an army of content creators who have jumped into the fray. Since it turned out you literally could become both rich and famous from something as obscure as your tiktok account, or any other major social media account, the World went crazy.
The early adopters who may or may not have seen the vision continue to reap the dividends of seeds they sowed several decades ago, but the Pie certainly has expanded over the years. What is baffling to me is that there seem to be an even bigger army of consumers than there are content creators.
I can easily waste my day sometimes flipping one YouTube channel to the next in an endless loop of useless information consumption. Notwithstanding, the competition for attention is fierce and every good content creator knows this from the get go. It is this that makes me ponder.
I sometimes wonder if such competition should bring about natural barriers to entry especially for new entrants, but this doesn't seem to be the case. There's tons of people out there who thrive off plaigarism and the agenda of more successful people. Removing those leverages doesn't seem like a workable solution.
What is more, people (myself included) seem to like listening to repeated versions of the same story. It is a funny but relatively true fact. I guess that is the ultimate affirmation of our own uniqueness.
