Soaking up the sun

I needed some nature. It was calling me. I had not choice but to take up the call.
I felt worn down and a little bit broken. I needed her to restore me.

I called my neighbour and asked if she wanted to go to the beach. I needed it. She needed it. We both needed some revival.

"Gimme ten minutes to grab the cooler box and I'll be there". It didn't take much convincing because we needed out.

It was a beautiful day. Sunny and warm but not as windy as yesterday.

We sat on the beach for hours. Just looking out at the water. It was mesmerizing.

So much sun and sand but our souls felt alive. We talked of a philosophical nature and we bonded while we walked down to the water's edge and splashed in the waves, the refreshment keeping us going.

It wasn't long before we got tired and wanted to head home. We had met so many people (and their dogs) on the beach. We had talked about life and love, we had talked about what it means to make your mark on life and society these days. We spoke of lighthearted thing and deep things. It was exactly what I needed to face forward and know that the direction I take is my own to choose.

After many hours we finally packed up and said goodbye to the beach. It had been a lovely, wholesome and hearty day there but now it was time for sleep and dreams. I left there feeling light of heart and soul. Speaking my version of how I see life felt good, it felt well deserved and even though things aren't entirely perfect, today at the beach, it was as close as it comes.
