PRESIDENTIAL PARDON...
Good evening, my #FreeHive family.
It’s been a long, hectic day for me. But just as I opened my phone to unwind, I saw this today's prompt Presidential Pardon. Immediately, a story from my secondary school days rushed back to me like it happened yesterday.
Back then, our town was constantly on edge, haunted by two notorious thieves known as Tiger and Viper. Everyone knew their names. Everyone feared them. They moved like shadows and struck like lightning, leaving fear and confusion in their wake.
Here’s the twist Tiger, despite his terrifying street reputation, was the son of a respected Anglican priest. His father was a man of God, well known and highly regarded in the community. Many couldn’t understand how such a man could raise someone so different so wild.
Eventually, their reign of terror came to an end when they robbed a prominent businessman. Their luck ran out. They were caught, tried, and sentenced to five years in prison.
But here’s where fate took a strange turn.
Just six months into their sentence, a newly elected president granted a mass pardon to 1,000 inmates nationwide. Among the lucky ones was Tiger the priest’s son. Viper wasn’t on the list.
The news spread like wildfire.
People talked. Some cried foul. Others claimed Tiger’s release was due to his father’s influence. Many believed it was political favoritism at its peak. But truthfully, it was simply a matter of chance his name happened to make the list.
Still, the damage was done. The pardon left the town divided. While some saw it as a stroke of mercy, others saw it as an injustice a reminder of how unequal the world can feel when luck and connections collide.
Even today, when the topic of presidential pardon comes up, this story always echoes in my mind.
