Planning for 2021. Creativity and flexibility will be key

Greetings dear friends, I hope you have received a happy year with much health and that this year comes loaded with much prosperity.

As is customary for many, the beginning of a year is a time to set new goals and or revive old ones, and for this, attitude and planning are essential to success; and the year that has just ended has taught us that we must be cautious and that our planning must be different from what we had considered before.

A year ago we were planning our 2020, and I am sure that many could not imagine what it would be, so I think that for the vast majority those plans changed more than once, I include myself in the list.

And even with the presence of covid-19 in our reality, we are forced to be more flexible and learn to manage uncertainty. We are always going to find a certain level of uncertainty when we consider undertaking a productive activity, especially when it is a business. However, the levels of uncertainty that we handled last year surely surpassed any proposed scenario, but that is no excuse for not planning this year; on the contrary, it is a condition that forces us to develop more flexible planning with more solid strategic thinking.

Not planning in times of uncertainty can be a serious mistake, which usually leads us to improvise along the way, and improvisations have the bad habit of making us make mistakes.

So, as a result of last year's events, we must make changes in the way we have planned in previous years. And in my view, there are three important changes we must consider in our plans for 2021.

• Planning for the short term: perhaps adjusting to an annual plan is not the most convenient given the levels of uncertainty we have been dealing with, perhaps setting quarterly goals and adjusting them progressively is a more reasonable option.

• Leave more space for flexibility: for the same circumstances, with high levels of uncertainty we must leave more space for maneuver.

• Innovate and diversify: with such difficult markets and new restrictions, given the upturn in many countries, I believe that we must be very creative if we have decided to plan a venture, the traditional options are not working for the current circumstances, and at the same time, they give us the opportunity to innovate. And we should also consider diversifying our options, as this will give us more possibilities to handle unexpected situations.

I believe that just as when we drive in the rain, that our visibility is limited, we must be more careful and pay more attention to the next few meters, and not to the next few kilometers, and put our skills to the best use if an obstacle suddenly appears.

Just as every year we must reflect on what we achieved last year, look at the current situation and set ourselves realistic and measurable goals. But I think we should set ourselves goals that we can achieve in the first quarter of the year and adjust them for the next quarter. That will allow us to better handle changing circumstances and adjust our work accordingly, giving us more room to be flexible.

This year we should not look at planning as a heavy and rigid task, look at this moment as an opportunity to reinvent yourself, reinvent your business, and open yourself to new proposals, think that you can do differently to satisfy a need; and evaluate your goals in a short term to minimize risks and make the necessary changes.

I am planning a new venture, more adjusted to the circumstances and that can be scalable, for which I need to train in some areas, so that will be part of my first quarter, it will also be part of it to maintain my activity in the platforms of Hive and steemit, and expand my knowledge about the cryptographic world to take advantage of other opportunities beyond the mentioned platforms, which have been the center and pillar of my activity in the world of the block chain

Well friends, I hope that this 2021 comes loaded with good things for everyone, but if we want to take better advantage of the circumstances we must make a realistic planning of our objectives. My best wishes for prosperity for all.
