usually

three letters:

E for economy
X for performance
L for low power

and numbers:

 - first one correspond to the  --  number of sockets 3 for single, 5 for dual, 
 - second number correspond to  --  the generation and the number of cores. 
 - third number correspond to   --  the speed of the processor (within the generation)
 - the last one                 --  to ---- the FSB."
