"Why him?" - A Story in 50 Words
Such brittle laughter. It escaped as harsh barks that crumpled gradually into angry sobs, evidence of grief that would no longer tolerate being ignored. Fresh sadness met stale sadness and intermingled blocking out all memory of better times. The question, why, erupted. A wailing mantra aimed pointedly at the heavens.
This wasn't my jolliest story. Not by a long shot but then again, the random word I was given today was 'grief'. I find that to be one of the harder emotions to express. There's such a finality to death. Or maybe not. I suppose it depends on your beliefs.
