"The Variant" - A Story in 50 Words
They called him 'mad'. He wore it like a badge of honor. They could mock him as much as they pleased deep down they were in awe of what he could do that the sane ones could not. He'd found the variant, after all. Humanity might still survive this trial.
So...what's the variant? Aside from the random word this story was written around, who knows? I purposefully left it vague. I'd need much more than fifty words to expand on the theme. Maybe with a bit of research I could put some meat on the bones of the plot. But for now it is what it is.
