Fue en la semana del 18 al 25 de Mayo de 1810, conocida como la Semana de Mayo donde se produjeron estas revoluciones con el fin de destituir al Virrey de España para asi lograr la independencia Argentina y finalmente construir nuestra propia patria.

It was during the week of May 18th to 25th, 1810, known as the May Week, when these revolutions took place with the purpose of removing the Viceroy of Spain in order to achieve Argentina's independence and finally build our own homeland.

Si bien la renuncia del Virrey Cisneros se dio el 25 de Mayo y se produjo la Primera Junta de Gobierno libre de la participación española, no fue sino hasta el 9 de Julio de 1816 cuando finalmente se declaró oficialmente la independencia.

Although the resignation of Viceroy Cisneros took place on May 25 and the First Government Junta was created free of Spanish participation, it was not until July 9, 1816 when independence was officially declared.

Acontecimientos como la Primera Junta, el Cabildo Abierto, las firmas para comenzar a establecer la construcción argentina libre del mandato español fueron uno de los más importantes hechos históricos que se produjeron precisamente en este Cabildo y es por eso que hoy les quiero mostrar una parte del mismo.

Solía ser mucho más grande, pero fue acortado para la construcción de la Avenida de Mayo. Aun así el edificio se mantuvo en su sitio de origen y se conservan dentro de él objetos, cuadros, vajillas, materiales históricos bien conservados. Algunos de ellos se pueden tocar para experimentar como trabajaban las personas por aquellos años, por ejemplo, la imprenta a palanca.

It used to be much larger, but was shortened for the construction of May Avenue. Even so, the building was kept in its original location and well preserved objects, pictures, crockery, historical materials are kept inside. Some of them can be touched to experience how people worked in those years, for example, the lever printing press.

Visite el Cabildo dos veces si no mal recuerdo y es increíble la sensación que se experimenta al pisar el mismo sitio donde estuvieron quienes lucharon por la independencia de nuestro país y ver con tus propios ojos cómo vivían las personas del siglo XIX.

I visited the Cabildo twice if I remember correctly and it is incredible the feeling you get when you step on the same place where those who fought for the independence of our country were and see with your own eyes how the people of the nineteenth century lived.

Conocer una parte fundamental de la historia de un país se hace mucho más placentera, divertida y grata cuando lo ves con tus propios ojos, tienes en frente tuyo objetos que se utilizaban por aquellos años y pisar el mismo lugar que pisaron nuestros antepasados.
