Remember
I remember.
I remember.
I remember.
I remember.
And I miss you.
Image Description: A wooden toy train sits on exposed bedrock amid vibrant autumn leaves.
While I am sharing this work in November, it was written in March after the loss of my grandfather who was both a navy veteran and a long-serving firefighter. My fondest memories of him include making toys in his wood shop and returning to the sugar shack from collecting sap and being rewarded with a ladle full of maple syrup he would scoop off the evaporator and cool in the snow till it was cool enough not to burn us.
I hope as we all walk through this season of remembrance our sorrow can be intermingled with pleasant memories.
