Identity, Parenthood, and the Ever-Changing Self ESP/ENG

Finding identity in parenthood is quite significant and transformative for those who experience it. I remember asking myself, when I was entering adulthood, what my parents must have been like before they had me, and I believe they will never be those people again, and at the same time, one never ceases to be them.

Encontrar la identidad en la paternidad es bastante significativo y transformador para los que lo experimentan. Recuerdo preguntarme ya cuando estaba entrando en mi adultez acerca de cómo habrían sido mis padres antes de tenerme a mí, y creo que nunca volverán a ser esas personas y, al mismo tiempo, uno nunca lo deja de ser.

I changed a lot after the birth of my daughters. In the same way, I notice that much of who I was never left, so it's somewhat paradoxical. For my daughters, I am their dad, and I have a way of being with them.

I wonder what will happen when my daughters grow up because I know I will be different as they grow. This couple is a couple who have five children, and it is clear they enjoy each other, besides it being something that defines them. And for me, being a father is also something that defines me and I will never stop being, but it is something that will keep transforming.

Me pregunto qué sucederá cuando mis hijas crezcan porque sé que seré diferente a medida que crezcan. Esta pareja es una pareja que tiene 5 hijos y se ve que disfrutan de sí mismos, además de que se ve que es algo que los define. Y para mí ser padre también es algo que me define y nunca dejaré de ser, pero sí es algo que se irá transformando.
