The last day of summer in 2024
Yesterday was not just the last day of the summer season, but also an appropriately sunny day.
A day you want to start with a refreshing cold bath.
I went cycling for more than an hour, at a leisurely pace but trying to keep the same speed at bridges and tunnels.
But first I had to walk to the pharmacy for some vitamin pills. Then I noticed I'd almost missed the annual neighborhood festival. I guess these boys won the 1km kids run.
More birds: can you spot the rare mother duck boat, followed by her ducklings?
I rode to the Rijnenburg polder. This week, the city of Utrecht announced a plan to build 25,000 homes there, mostly apartments, starting around 2035. I think that's a bit much for a district isolated behind two highways (I know, Americans will not understand this sentence).
On the return leg of my ride, I passed by a business that burned down recently. It was probably arson, since it was the second fire at the same industrial park this month.
All in all I got to see before and after views of the local news with my own eyes.
