Actifit report for Saturday: Alhambra

Today I rode my rented bicycle up a steep hill in Granada in order to take a look at the Alhambra from outside.

It was a challenge to find a route. I just hoped the Barranco del Abogado would end up there. That worked out well, and there were great views occasionally, but not a good place to take pictures.

To the annoyance of my host, I didn't get a ticket, which was probably impossible anyway. There was still plenty to see in the public areas, including inside of the buildings from the Christian era.

This is the palace of Emperor Charles V, another visitor from the Low Countries. It includes the motto 'Plus Ultra', which is still on the flag of Spain, which means 'further beyond' (as 'Plus Oultre' in French and P.V. in Latin).

After returning the bike, I walked through Granada, mostly the Albacín neighborhood. I've shown enough buildings now, so here's a wedding for a change:

Apparently, the Navy was involved. Watch out for the lady in high heels and jogging pants, don't leave her alone with the groom.
