Weekly Splinterlands Challenge: Reverse Speed
Welcome back, Summoners! I'm , and this is our submission for the weekly challenge within the thrilling world of Splinterlands. This week, we're taking on the reverse speed challenge. So, grab your spellbooks and let's get started!
Introduction
Hey there! If you're new here, I'm , a returning Splinterlands player, I enjoy the opportunities in web3 and crypto and have been a long time lover of all things TCG. After initially buying the summoners spellbook and some cards, I ended up taking a long hiatus, chasing gains on other chains 😅, however I am back and have rediscovered the fun this game has to offer.
Follow along as I continue my journey in Splinterlands and the hive blockchain.
This week we dive into a new challenge in the Splinterlands universe, sharing my experiences, strategies, and the occasional misstep. This week's challenge is all about reverse speed, as I am sure you all know, you do not want fast minions out in reverse speed.
The in game description:
Units with lower speeds will attack before units with higher speeds. Attack Accuracy based on speed will also be reversed
My Team
For this challenge, I decided to go with an earth lineup that could benefit from the slower speed some of the magic units that exist. Here's a breakdown of my team:
- [Obsidian]: Our earth summoner
- [Lioceros]: Having Lioceros as our tank, because he has high HP and a nasty thorns ability incase the enemy uses melee
- [Goblin Psychic]: Pretty much a staple of the Earth splinter, Goblin Psychic at max level provides, healing for our tank, chance to apply affliction, chance to remove positive effects on the enemy and very important reducing the enemies magic damage by 1
- [Djinn Biljka]: A very strong low cost earth unit, that does a lot of damage, Djinn takes 50% less magic damage, cant be targeted in our backline and lowers the enemies health by 1
- [Xenith Archer]: Our last minion for the remaining mana
Opponent's Team
Now, let's take a look at my opponent's team. They went with a lineup that also used the earth splinter and had a decent amount of low speed units. Here's what I was up against:
- [Obsidian]: His earth summoner
- [Terraceous Hulk]: My opponent used Terraceous Hulk as his tank, he has void armor and taunt ability
- [Fungus Fiend]: A very nice 0 cost legendary to help fill up a team
- [Mycelic Morphoid]: A low cost unit with thorns
- [Scavo Hireling]: Hireling with camouflage and armor repair
- [Djinn Biljka]: A very strong low cost earth unit, that does a lot of damage, Djinn takes 50% less magic damage, cant be targeted in our backline and lowers the enemies health by 1
The Ruleset
This match challenge had the ruleset: Reverse speed. Here's a quick rundown of what the ruleset and what splinters were available:
- Reverse speed: Units with lower speeds will attack before units with higher speeds. Attack Accuracy based on speed will also be reversed
- Splinters available: Fire | Earth | Life | Death
Battle
My opponent had a very good strategy of trying to force all my attacks at his taunting Terraceous Hulk, who also has void armor meaning I would have to get past his armor before I could hurt his HP. He followed that up with Scavo Hireling to repair the armor, and used Djinn to try lower my magic damage.
My strategy was to try keep my tank alive as long as possible, while also lowering the enemies magic damage and HP.
As the battle progressed, we can see I was able to output more damage to the enemy by having all of the units in my backline hitting his tank, while my opponent only had 2 units able to attack me. This was I think the deciding factor in our match.
Finally, we can conclude the enemy was unable to out repair the damage we did. This led to our victory.
Tips
If you're facing a similar challenge, here are some tips that might help you out when you encounter this ruleset:
- Big damage dealers: I know some of the big damage dealers normally have slow speed as a punishment
- Magic: Magic users can be slow, it can does have some strong counters so you need to be careful
- Opportunity and Sneak: Avoid these units as they tend to have faster speed
Conclusion
This week's challenge was a blast, and I learned a lot about using the speed of my minions in battle. If you enjoyed this post, be sure to follow me for future Splinterlands challengess. Also, feel free to share your own strategies and outcomes in the comments below!
Until next time, keep battling, keep grinding, keep growing!
