Indigenous Micro Organisms aka IMO

Well, the weather has allowed for another opportunity to try and collect local microorganisms from my environment. Normally this time of year the temperatures are a hundred degrees plus. This process requires the weather to be around 70 to 85 degrees outside.

Using white rice I washed it and used the rice wash to also make lactic acid bacteria also known as L.A.B.

The IMO process is arguably the most important process in Korean natural farming. Because of this I have been focusing Less on fermentation. I am trying to conserve my energy for Korean natural farming to this specific process which because of my environment and my current living situation being in flux or limbo rather I have been just patiently laying in wait and focusing on bokashi and worm farming until I could have an area that's more sustainable to live at to fully do this process. But a silver lining has allowed for one last attempt of IMO on this property.

The hardest part of this process for me has been cooking the rice perfectly al dente but I think I acheived that last night.

I have a piece of wood in the video blocking the Sun from directly hitting the collection box if anyone is curious about that. I'm not going to do a disservice to this process by trying to explain it like I know what I'm doing but rather share a video that should help and has been instrumental in teaching people about the important processes of Korean natural farming or just natural farming in general.
