Trust

Trust is not easily built, yet can be lost within seconds. When people meet for the first time, they hardly give out personal information because of trust issues. With time and consistent effort by both parties to build friendship, trust seeps in and eventually becomes a thing.
When this trust is earned, not everyone makes the effort to maintain it. Some even see it as an entitlement, which is totally wrong. On several occasions, we must have made promises to our friends, and vice versa. Fulfilling these promises goes a long way in strengthening trust in friendship.
One good example is when we promise to include our friends in our prayers, especially when they are going through hard times. A lot of people are guilty of this. We just casually say to our friends, "I'll be praying for you", without actually doing so. Our friends on the other hand, trust us to do as we say and keep hoping for results. Is this true of you?

Some promises now seem a bit of a cliché because of failure to keep them. This should not be the case, but on a daily basis, it happens as a lot of people damn the consequences. When trust begins to waver in a relationship, suspiscion sets in and gradually, those involved fall apart.
How many times have you failed in fulfilling your promise?
Did you think it didn't matter?
How about your friend who holds you in high esteem? Haven't you broken the investment of trust?
Now, would you want to be treated same way?
We must consciously and intentionally keep working on our relationship with others. Surely, it would pay off to be known as a trustworthy friend and colleague. The golden rule says, 'Do unto others what you want to be done to you', so make that effort today to sustain trust in your relationship with others!
