Matriarchy

Matriarchy is a social system where women hold the primary power and authority in political, economic, and family structures. Matriarchy is not commonly practice in Nigeria because of the social structure and our cultural-gender role. However, such social system may be acceptable in a society where women have proven to be competent in handling matters in politics, government, and the family. If this practice is done in wide geographic areas, then the world is assured to stay decades without war, maybe just bunches of country keeping malice and not speaking to each other.

Matriarchy may have a lot of benefits especially with the fact that women are good managers and have empathy when dealing with certain situations. Men are strong and sometimes act with a hardened heart. Women on the other hand are fragile but disciplined. The benefit of matriarchy may be the less fight for power and wealth accumulation commonly seen in patriarchy. If there's less or no fight for power and wealth, then resources may be used effectively and there'll be less corruption among countries.

With the current social and cultural gender role, it would be almost impossible to return to matriarchy, not because of the placement society has for the female gender but because of the religious perspective on women, where men are believed to be the head and women their help mate. To generate a transition from patriarchy to matriarchy, we would need to restructure the social role and change the cultural gender role placed on the female gender. If the world will see all gender as equal with equal role and right , then transition is possible.
