Difference between judging and criticizing

Judging and criticizing are two different words that's sometimes used interchangeably, yet with different meanings depending on the context. The word "judge" is used when an opinion is formed about an individual or thing , such an opinion can be good or bad while criticism is a disapproval, by pointing out shortcomings. People most times used them interchangeably, and that's because they assume the words are the same. Oftentimes, people associate judgement with bad report, but then , judgment can be good or bad, one can be judged to be innocent of a crime, or judged not to be able to commit certain acts, but when it comes to criticism, what one tend to find is one's shortcomings compared to what's considered to be acceptable.

Between judging and destructive criticism, destructive criticism is worse, that's because judgment can be wrong or right, and doesn't point out nor ridicule one's shortcoming, rather it weighs one's action and makes a conclusive statement about who they assume he or she is. But destructive criticisms are known to locate one's shortcomings, make a mockery of it until that individual feels lowly of himself. Destructive criticism does not build one up rather it tears one down, and oftentimes it points out one's weakness and makes him feel incapable.

Judging an individual doesn't destroy one's self esteem as much as a destructive criticism. One who's judged can resolve to live a better life if he considers the things he was judged for, but when one is criticized destructively, it breaks his spirit and leaves him vulnerable to wrong ideology about himself.
