An interesting draft beer
I spent Friday and Saturday at the Belgrade lake in the shade of an umbrella with the Jelen brewery brand from Aparin, while a Hivers, born in Apatin, teased me that as a beer drinker, I found a great umbrella 🙂
And I am 😆
I didn't drink beer on the beach under this umbrella, because I had to drive, but on the way home, I stopped by the grocery store and took a look at the shelves of beer.
Efes Draft caught my eye.
The interesting appearance of the bottle, in the form of a barrel, was what I noticed first, but after that, I was also surprised by the Draft inscription.
I took one bottle and as soon as I got home, I looked for an explanation.
How about Draft beer, in industrial packaging?
This Efes Draft is a Turkish premium lager with 5% alcohol which, with a specific production process, successfully transfers the authentic experience of draft beer to home conditions.
The secret is in the shorter, semi-pasteurization.
Regular industrial beers go through strong heat treatment to make them last longer, while Efes Draft is minimally pasteurized.
This way, the yeast and malt remain more "alive", and the beer retains its freshness, full body and soft texture, giving the impression that it was poured directly from the tap in the pub.
Efes Draft also made an interesting cork, no bottle opener is needed, it is opened by twisting the cork.
As soon as it opens, there is a clean and intense aroma of fresh malted barley, with slight floral tones in the background coming from the carefully dosed hops.
There is no sharp, offensive smell of alcohol in the air around the top of the bottle.
At first sip, on the palate, this draft beer is extremely soft, smooth and creamy.
The rich taste of malted grains dominates with a natural sweetness reminiscent of notes of honey. The beer is characterized by high drinkability because the bitterness is reduced to a minimum and is only slightly noticeable at the end.
Due to the natural and moderate carbonation, beer does not create a feeling of heaviness in the stomach.
I chilled it to 6°C and enjoyed its balanced taste as I sipped it slowly, refreshing myself after a day in the sun.
