For Guild & Glory: Brawl Report #143

Overview

Welcome back Splinterlands battlemages to another edition of "For Guild & Glory," my brawl report series covering all the action from my three accounts: ducecrypto@ducecrypto in Tier 4 with shield-of-glory@shield-of-glory from the Kingdom of Glory [KoG] alliance, treycrypto@treycrypto in Tier 3 with the yggspl-official@yggspl-official alliance YGG Brawlers (Niðavellir) and shaelien@shaelien in Tier 3 with the always lively the420syndicate@the420syndicate. You can see my last report for Brawl #142 here.

DuceCrypto & Shield of Glory

SoG Brawl 143.png

With the departure of the top three brawling guilds to Tier 5, I'm looking forward to the challenge of proving Shield of Glory the best of the rest in Tier 4 and going on a run of 1st place finishes. We responded in a big way, winning our 9-guild brawl by 20 wins over 2nd place HD Hyborian Dream and earning us 192 crowns, 10971 merits, and 200 SPS.

We were led to victory by a clean 8-0 sweep by xsuilx@xsuilx as well as a bunch of nearly perfect records well beyond just the four names at 7-1 in the image above. My defense of Fray 18 - Modern Gold Foil Silver League has not been as strong as I am used to, going 5-3 now for the third straight brawl.

Of my three losses, this 36-mana trample battle stood out, as cyanmarko@cyanmarko from The Mobydicks played a superior Rathe lineup with no melee attackers against my poorly configured Mylor lineup. On the other hand, I was really pleased with this 60-mana melee mayhem battle against kyl3@kyl3 from YGG Brawlers (Niflheim), where my fire team with Gladiator Chimney Wallstop prevailed over his fierce water team.

TreyCrypto & YGG Brawlers (Niðavellir)

YGG Brawl 143.png

Mark it 3-for-3 for 1st place Tier 3 finishes in my short time with YGG Brawlers (Niðavellir). Gladly we didn't have to beat up any fellow YGG alliance guilds. Instead, we finished just above Team Possible Power by a narrow two wins, taking home 115 crowns, 6389 merits, and almost 53 SPS.

We enjoyed a number of strong performances, including an 8-0 sweep by eldon1@eldon1 and 8-1 finishes by textcrawl@textcrawl and kidsworld@kidsworld. Defending Fray 16 - Modern Gold Foil Silver League has been going well by most accounts, but by my high standards, I have been underperforming. After 5-1 marks in my first two brawls, I only managed a 4-2 record this time around. However, I did manage to win the all-important battle against logantron@logantron from runner-up Team Possible Power. It was kind of a crapshoot with the 48-mana scattershot battle but in the end, Gladiator Chimney Wallstop was the difference with his focused reach attack.

Shaelien & The 420 Syndicate

420 Brawl 143.png

I'm still having a blast brawling in Tier 3 with my OGs in the420syndicate@the420syndicate, despite some of our recent struggles. We went into this current brawl cycle as the lowest-ranked guild in our group but managed to finish in 7th place out of nine guilds. We actually had 11 FEWER losses than the 6th placed guild, but since we have been struggling to fill those Gold Foil and Alpha/Beta frays we don't play as many battles as many of the other guilds. As bounty for our finish, we earned 40 crowns, 1778 merits, and 28 SPS.

We had two brawlers finish with nearly flawless performances: jymydan@jymydan with a 7-1 mark and supermuffin@supermuffin with a 5-1 mark, as well as quite a few more with records over a 50% win rate. Defending Fray 13 - Modern Diamond League continues to be an uphill road for me and the max gold league deck I play on this account. No matter though, I relish the underdog role and still managed to pull off a few wins, ending up with a 2-6 record. My pick of the bunch was this victory over kfray@kfray where the ranged attack from my death team really shined bright against their water team.

The Gladius Cases

Since the end of brawls lined up with the end of the season, I had a few extra merits lying around to open a few extra gladius cases. Well, except for poor Shaelien, who didn't receive enough merits to even buy one. Duce's first seven cases did not yield any gold foils, but I finally opened two in the last three cases. Trey did quite well, opening two gold foils in four cases.

New Brawl Preview

It should be another fun brawl in Tier 4 for cycle #144, as Shield of Glory will match up against the 2nd-ranked guild Knights United as well as KoG alliance guild No Guts No Glory.

In Tier 3, YGG Brawlers (Niðavellir) will look to continue its string of 1st place finishes, as it is again the highest-ranked guild in its group with opposition from any other guilds in the YGG alliance. The 420 Syndicate finds itself in the middle of the group when it comes to overall rank, so hopefully, we will be able to claim a top-half finish this cycle.

As always, thanks for spending some of your time with me and checking out my brawl report. Don't forget to drop a like, write a comment, and gimme a follow if you're so inclined. See you in the Splinterlands.
