The Drop
This was taken in Montana during the Sawtooth Fire (I think). This is a K-Max double rotor helicopter. The payload is called a Bambi bucket. I have no idea where that name started. I suspect it has something to do with Bambi being part of the forest fire propaganda of the 1930’s before Smokey Bear was really a thing.
We spent a whole day watching this helicopter and another dip into a site on a river. It was a pretty cool thing to experience.
