The Coming Storm

Storms pop up rather quickly in the desert. Even in the high desert. This landscape doesn't get much rain but when it does come it comes in with full force.
This picture was taken on a hill somewhere around Portage, Utah in 2013. I and 21 other hand crew members gathered from all over Florida were working on the State Fire. While we were used to big storms we were not used to no trees and high hills.
That topography has a crazy effect on weather. Winds funnel, uneven heating on different aspects and different elevations leads to some interesting storm development. Needless to say we pulled off of a higher hill and tried to get as low as possible.
Which out there is pretty near impossible.
