Profile in Oil Pastels
Profile, Oil Pastels on Paper, 2019
Nothing like a self portrait. This is probably one of the most accurate self-portraits I have ever done honestly. I'm not sure what I was going through at that moment. But I was certainly uncomfortable. Looking back, that was the calm before the storm.
It almost looks like I'm looking ahead to the struggles before me and staring them down with rage.
I should paint more of these. After all, I am my most available model. And it's good to see yourself at different moments in your life. More gray hairs, more wrinkles, lost weight, all those signs of stress add up into a story. What better way to capture them but with an artistic eye?
I’m posting every painting I have ever done from 2014 to the present, the good, the bad, and the ugly. With an occasional photograph or sketch thrown in just to mix things up. Check back daily to see my progression as an “artist”!
