Satisfying Our Street Food Cravings: Hot Coffee and Family Bonding Moments We Treasure Most
Hello everyone! Living here on the farm is peaceful and rewarding. We enjoy fresh air, fresh vegetables, and a simple lifestyle surrounded by nature. However, there are times when we also crave some of the foods that are commonly available in the city. Even though we live far from town, it is still nice to enjoy our favorite Filipino snacks once in a while.
We decided to treat ourselves and bought some popular street foods such as kikiam, fish balls, Shanghai, and hotdogs. These may be simple snacks, but sometimes they are exactly what we are craving. It's always a good feeling to satisfy those little cravings every now and then.
As usual, we prepared and cooked everything outside our farmhouse. We have a very simple cooking area made from two hollow blocks that serve as our stove support. I also gathered some dry firewood around the farm to use as fuel. It may not be a fancy kitchen, but it works perfectly for us and adds a special touch to the experience. I hope soon we can build a simple outdoor kitchen here on the farm for more memorable moments cooking with family.
While the food was cooking, I prepared our favorite dipping sauce made with vinegar, lots of onions, and garlic. I also heated water for coffee. Unlike many people, I am not a morning coffee person, so my coffee time is usually around 3 PM. A hot cup of coffee paired with freshly cooked snacks made the afternoon even more enjoyable.
What made the moment extra special was sharing it with my daughter. Even with our simple setup and simple food, we truly enjoyed our time together. Sometimes, happiness does not come from expensive meals or luxurious places. It comes from spending quality time with the people we love.
The next morning, we still had some leftover hotdogs. Instead of letting them go to waste, I turned them into a simple meal by adding vegetables such as carrots, bell peppers, and beans. The result was a more nutritious dish that became our breakfast. It felt great knowing that nothing was wasted and that we were able to make the meal healthier.
Life on the farm may be simple, but moments like these make it meaningful and memorable. Thank you for taking the time to read my story. This is my owned picture and edited in Canva. I hope it reminds you that simple moments can often bring the greatest happiness.
Have a nice day! 💛
