No Electricity, No Problem: A Fun Farm Day Caring for Animals, Swimming, Harvesting Coconuts, and Counting Blessings
Today was a little different from our usual days here on the farm. Early in the morning, we learned that there would be no electricity because the electric company was conducting clearing operations along the roads. They were trimming and removing tree branches that could affect the power lines. While it was a temporary inconvenience, I understood that it is important to keep everyone safe and help prevent future power interruptions.
Since there was no electricity, staying inside the house felt a bit warm and boring. Instead, we decided to spend the day outdoors. My niece and my daughter were excited because they had one thing on their minds the swimming!
To make the day more enjoyable, I set up our foldable swimming pool beside our piggery. The moment I filled it with water, the girls could hardly contain their excitement. Their laughter quickly filled the farm as they splashed around and enjoyed every minute of it.
Meanwhile, I continued with my regular farm tasks. I fed our pigs and checked on their condition while occasionally looking over at the children. Not far away, our goats were peacefully grazing, adding to the relaxing farm atmosphere. As I watched everything around me the animals, the children, and the simple beauty of our surroundings I found myself reflecting on how much life has changed.
There was a time when my biggest prayer was simply to survive each day. Life was challenging, and I often worried about how we would get through difficult times. But today, as I stood there watching my daughter happily swim while our farm continued to provide for us, I realized how much God has blessed our family.
Even without electricity, our day was far from boring. We had fresh air, space to play, animals to care for, and precious moments to enjoy together. These simple things reminded me that true happiness does not always depend on modern comforts.
My husband’s family visited us also to harvest coconut and drink a buko juice. We have different varieties of coconut trees on the farm, and they are producing plenty of fruit this season. Seeing the harvest gave me of an important lesson: if you plant something and take care of it patiently, you will eventually reap the rewards.
Today may have started with a power outage, but it ended with gratitude in my heart. Sometimes the simplest days become the most meaningful memories.
