Genetics loads the gun, environment pulls the trigger!

Even though I believe environment to be the by far more significant factor, I kind of like the analogy on the one hand but on the other you really cannot go without realizing how dangerous that phrase can be.

In essence responsibility is what keeps society civil. Responsibility for our actions and responsibility for the words that come out of our mouth. Being held accountable for the things we do.

But then ask yourself what kind of image of that concept is created when saying: "Genetics loads the gun, environment pulls the trigger."?
Your actions are no longer up to you. They are simply a product of your genetics and your environment and you often cannot change neither.
