A WEEKEND TO REMEMBER!
We woke up to a beautiful sunrise in Laos, the beauty made me want to stay forever. We were getting ready to leave when I got a phone call.
"Hello, good morning. Who are my onto?"
"Pology how far"
I smiled, because there's only one person in the whole world who calls me by that name. My best friend back in college.
"Alaska! Why are you calling me with a strange number?"
"That is A story for another day. What do you think about coming to meet me at Indonesia."
"What on earth are you doing at Indonesia?"
"O boy I've been here for a week now, the beauty is overwhelming and I needed to share it with somebody."
"That is quite thoughtful of you. I'm actually at Laos with my sis right now"
"Wow, my future wife is with you, be sure to bring her with you to Indonesia"
"Wait! Pology what are you doing in Laos"
"My beloved captain surprised me with plane ticket for two to Laos"
"Wow! The one-eyed captain you told me about?"
"I never told you she had one eye. I said eagle-eyed"
"Oh! I thought every captain has one eye, with an evil patch covering the other eye"
Thanks to Alaska who booked a flight to Indonesia for the both of us. It took us about 9 hours to get to Indonesia.
On Arriving at Ngurah Rai International Airport Bali, We changed our $500 and it was worth about 7million Indonesian Rupiah. That was A whole lot of currency. It's a good thing I brought my waist bag with me. I put it all in there where my eyes will always be on it.
I contacted Alaska and he arrived in no time.
"Man you have gotten really fat! What have these Indonesians been feeding you?"
"Leave that thing. My Wife how are you?"
"I'm fine good afternoon."
"See better come and pay bride price before you start screaming my wife up and down, because every girl you see is your wife."
We all laughed.
"I hope you brought enough money, because I'm not spending a dime till you leave."
"You would have told me that your money has finished, that is why you invited me to come and help you complete your tour."
We Took a $10 ride to GANGA HOTEL AND APARTMENTS. Which was were Alaska has been lodging since he arrived at Indonesia. We paid $28 for a superior double room for two days.
"You both rest today, tomorrow being weekend the tour begins and I'll show you why we I have been in Indonesia for 1 week"
It felt like I've slept only an hour when I heard a loud bang on the door
"Rise and shine tourists! I didn't bring you here to sleep away your life."
That was Alaska being a jerk as usual. I signaled My sis to let him in.
"This is just 4am, isn't it a bit too early?"
I asked with a sleepy voice
"Will you get off your lazy ass, you wouldn't want to miss the sunrise at BROMO-TENGGER-SEMERU NATIONAL PARK."
"But first here are the things you must know while on this vacation. Never point at someone or anything at all. They find that Rude. Never touch someone in the head, they see that as a violation. You will notice street dogs roaming around everywhere, never pat them on the head, I almost had my hand bitten off when I tried that."
"That's A whole lot of do's and don't"
"Shut up and listen. I'm not through. For this outing, you will need your sweater, umbrella..."
Honestly it felt like he spoke forever.
When we got to Bromo-Tengger-Semeru National Park, I was glad Alaska didn't let my lazy ass stop us from seeing such beauty. It took us a $50 ferry ride to get here. The sunrise here was the prettiest I've ever seen in my life. We took a walk in the volcanic region observing the beauty and watching smoke of ashes coming out from mount Semeru. This is actually the largest volcanic region in the province.
Leaving misty Mount Bromo behind, Alaska showed us a spectacular sight secluded within the Bromo-Tengger-Semeru National Park: The Enchanting Madakaripura Waterfall. We trekked about twenty minutes crossing rivers and a rocky path. Before reaching the entrance, a statue of Majapahit‘s great Commander, GAJAH MADA, in the seated position of deep meditation greets visitors.
This waterfall was believed to be the final meditation place of military Commander-in-Chief, Gajah Mada, of the great Javanese kingdom of Majapahit in East Java. We paid $3 at the entrance.
It was almost midday, that was when we realized that we haven't taken breakfast. We decided to grab a meal when we get to our next stop TEGALALANG RICE TERRACE. We took a 30$ ride to the beautiful Tegalalang village. We branched at a pretty restaurant and had a sumptuous meal. Which cost about $10. It would have cost less if Alaska didn't order for a second round. Then we matched to the rice terrace, paid $3 at the entrance and later realized that we had to pay about $1 for every 500 miles. The beauty was definitely worth it.
We ended the day by visiting the GIANYAR NIGHT MARKET located quite close to our hotel. We explored the beautiful market then sat down for dinner.
DAY 2
The next day after a breakfast of $4 at restaurant close to our hotel, we started our adventure by visiting GILI ISLAND. We got there Via a fast boat which cost us $35. The island was pretty cool. We took a dive in the beach and watched people kayaking. You could see some turtles having a sort of family meeting.
We spent a couple hours there then headed to KOMODO NATIONAL PARK. The home of dragons as it was fondly called here. We paid $3 at the entrance. At the park we saw various fierce looking Komodo dragons. I never knew such animals still existed.
Next stop was the SACRED MONKEY FOREST, UBUD. We Took a $25 ferry to the monkey forest. Here we saw A wierd specie of monkeys. Some with two faces and other strange features. We explored took pictures and had a $3 lunch at a local restaurant in the village.
We took a $30 fast boat back to Bali where we ended our tour by relaxing at the Bali beach watching the beautiful sunset view and chatting about the whole trip experience. We bought an expensive wine of $50 because i still had a lot of Indonesian Rupiah in my waist bag.
