Blockchain Based QR CODE for product authenticity

QR codes are used to track products and ensure that the right products, prices, expiry dates, and other data is served as predetermined. In my country Kenya, businesses have to pay a license and registration for such codes. My question is, with the rise of blockchain solutions, why isn't there a blockchain solution that ensures that producers track their products to reduce chances of counterfeiting whereby the final consumers can scan a QR code and see all the details of the product on a public blockchain.

Take for example a sachet of coffee being sold at a local shop in Mombasa Kenya, if the consumer buys the coffee and scans the QR code, they will realize that the coffee was produced by farmer X, processed by company G, and distributed by Distributor K, see the expiry dates, coffee quality, ingredients, recommended retail price, and other legal standards.

The advantages accrue to the consumer in form of quality, price, safety, and transparency while the producers wipe out the chances of price manipulation, counterfeits and other illegalities.

Most importantly, there would be a direct link between producers and consumers. Producers could even run promotions on their products without having to deal with government or middlemen.
