People in Canada might have a difficult time getting their packages this holiday season, as the Canadian Union of Postal Workers (Canada Post) continues more than a month of their rotating strikes.

They've notified the public that they will be unwilling to honor their delivery standards because of the ongoing strikes which they expect could go on well into the beginning of the new year. They've apologized for the inconvenience and delays.

So far, they're seeing a backlog of more than 30+ days; they've had to ask other countries to stop sending mail because of the overload.

Small businesses have been especially hurt by the strikes, they say that it's killing them because they've had to wait many weeks to receive their goods, or to be able to ship anything to customers.

Across the country, small business owners have voiced their concern and frustration for the continuation of the strikes.

This isn't ideal for the organization seeing as they've tried to brand themselves as a friend to small businesses. Deadlines are being missed, business owners are stuck waiting for supplies and waiting for the goods to reach the customer. Thankfully, they aren't left with that only option and there are some other competitors available to people in the region.

Competitors have seen a surge in demand recently because of the rotating strikes, with people turning to alternatives such as UPS, FedEx, eShipper, ShipTime Inc., and more.

Several of those businesses have reported an increase in business since the strikes first began at the beginning of October. For business owners that cannot deal with the delays of Canada Post, they're turning to others who can promise to get them what they need on time as well as get the goods to the people who need them. This might mean a higher price to be paid, but for them at this time it's worth the promised dependability that they'll be able to ship their goods efficiently.

For now, until a resolution can be reached, the company has insisted that the packages will eventually be mailed to their appropriate destinations, it's just going to take longer than expected to get there.
