Hello everyone! Longest time, trust we've all been doing good? Well, the past week has been overwhelming with school stress (I'll probably tell you all about it later) but I'm still eager to write my task 6 post for the newbies initiative program.

You see, on our last discord meeting, we the newbies were schooled by ksam@ksam on the Hive blockchain gaming. We talked about the kinds of hive blockchain games, their native tokens, how to play them, NFTs and all of that. It'll interest you to that before the meeting's discussion, I wasn't really acquainted with Blockchain games. I mean, I knew about splinterlands which is like the hottest cake. I'd see it everywhere on my feeds but I couldn't just understand it.

I can't say I fully understand it yet but I'm glad I can now wrap my head around it a little. And so, this post is in response to the task questions which is to show my little understanding of Blockchain gaming.

1. Mention 2 features that makes blockchain game different from other games?

Blockchain games are different from regular games because they're built on the Blockchain. Hive for instance, has it's own games. And we're well aware of the fact that on the blockchain, we earn in coins and tokens. Just as you could write to earn, you could also play games to earn crypto (P2E) unlike other regular games whereby you just play for fun. Blockchain games are unique because you could literally play for the fun and rewards at the same time.

Another feature that makes blockchain games different from other games is that you could trade your earnings for other things both inside and outside of the game unlike the regular games whereby you could earn coins and use them only for “in-game” transactions.

2. List 4 Games on Hive Ecosystem and include their in-game currencies.

There are various Hive blockchain games but for this question, here are just a few of them and the currencies that players could earn in;
• Splinterlands: Splintershards (SPS)
• Rising star: Starbits
• Dcrops: Crop
• PsyberX: Level 1 token

3. What are NFTs and mention 1 use case of NFTs on a Blockchain game.

NFTs which is the acronym for non-fungible tokens are simply digital assets in the form of arts, video files or real estate which are seen on the Blockchain and cannot be replicated. That is to say, they are unique to oneself and cannot be re-created.

Now, these NFTs could be be earned on Blockchain games. An example is the splinterland game, a card game in which you collect their NFT cards, upgrade them and battle with other players.

Below is my response to the practical exercise in which we were asked to play the illegal busking mission on the rising star game;

Firstly, I opened my hive keychain app and clicked on the browser button

Then, I searched risingstargame.com on the search engine, inputted my username and posting key.

After I was logged in, I was taken to this page where I clicked on start mission

On this page, I accepted all the rules and clicked the start button for the illegal busking mission.

After 5 minutes, I finished the mission and checked my diary in which my records were listed. Currently, I have 48 Starbits and 10 drunken fans.

To be honest, I found everything a little complicated at first, being a first timer. But at the same time, it was pretty interesting and fun to try out the game 😊.

My sincere appreciation goes to the newbies initiative team starstrings01@starstrings01, theycallmedan@theycallmedan, vickoly@vickoly and the aliento@aliento team. Thank you for all you do!

And to my dear readers,

THANKS FOR READING! ❤️
