Another Big Data Firm Moves to Open Source
In yet another example of Open Source winning everywhere these days, Cloudera, an enterprise/ big data firm moves to open source its offerings.
In an effort to regain positive financial flow, Cloudera is yet another company that has come to recognize the true value of Open Source from development through support and it all adds up in revenue generation.
Following in the footsteps of Red Hat, Cloudera is offering a yet to be determined copy left license for its Hadoop software. Also like Red Hat, revenue generation will be from support for their software stack.
Interestingly, Cloudera acquired Hortonworks after companies like Spotify moved to Hortonworks for better service and then decided to also transition its software stack to Open Source.
