Driving with the Lights Off (Or: How the Universe Hates My Car and Loves Cops)

Picture this: a lazy, sunless afternoon. Exactly that kind of day where the sky is a washed out gray, the world feels draped in a halfhearted blanket of apathy, and even your coffee has given up.

I’m behind the wheel of my old car, windows down, radio playing something moody and vaguely rebellious, just trying to outrun the nothingness of my own thoughts. No real stress, just the kind of numb peace that comes before disaster.

And then, because the universe is a comedian with a cruel sense of timing and an unhealthy obsession with irony, I’m rolling a little too fast.

Not reckless, not wild, just… faster than the law would like.

The speed limit? More like a suggestion, whispered by bureaucrats with too much time on their hands.

Who even decides these things? People who’ve never felt the thrill of an open road, that’s who.

But the joke’s on me.

Anyway, welcome to my life. Where even the laziest afternoon can turn into a morality play, starring me, my car, and a ticket I didn’t want but probably deserved.

At least it gives me something more to write about. That, and a new reason to curse the sky, the law, and my own lead foot.
