Some cool facts about Westmalle

The beery home

The Westmalle Trappist Triple hails from the heart of Trappist brewing excellence - the Westmalle Abbey located in Malle, Belgium. The monks of Westmalle have been perfecting their brewing craft since 1836, making it one of the oldest Trappist breweries in the world. These monks are known for their commitment to brewing exceptional beer while adhering to strict monastic principles.

What Trappist beer?

The Trappist beer story is a thrilling journey into the world of beer that's intimately tied to the devotion of monks. Picture this: in the early 19th century, these monks decided they needed to support their monasteries, so they turned to brewing right within those sacred walls. Their commitment to simplicity, prayer, and labor resulted in something magical.

Out of this dedication emerged some of the world's most extraordinary beers. Think limited production, top-notch ingredients, and yeast strains with secret recipes that make each brew a unique masterpiece.

Currently, there are just 14 Trappist breweries globally, mainly in Belgium but with a few in the Netherlands and even one in the USA.

This are the 14 Trappist breweries:

  1. Achel - Belgium
  2. Chimay - Belgium
  3. Engelszell - Austria
  4. La Trappe - Netherlands
  5. Orval - Belgium
  6. Rochefort - Belgium
  7. Westmalle - Belgium
  8. Westvleteren - Belgium
  9. Zundert - Netherlands
  10. Spencer - United States
  11. Tynt Meadow - United Kingdom
  12. Mount St. Bernard - United Kingdom
  13. Tre Fontane - Italy
  14. Mariawald - Germany

Each of these breweries produces unique and exceptional beers, often following centuries-old traditions. Enjoy exploring the diverse flavors offered by these Trappist breweries if you have the opportunity!

For beer lovers, the Trappist beer story is like sipping history, tradition, and spiritual devotion in every glass. It's a reminder that beer isn't just a drink; it's a deeply rooted experience connecting us to the past and the divine. Cheers to that! 🍻

The Taste of the beer

Yeah, let's talk about the best part – the taste! When you crack open a bottle of Westmalle Trappist Triple, you're greeted with a gorgeous golden hue and a frothy, billowing head. The aroma is a symphony of fruity and spicy notes with hints of banana, pear, and clove.

On the palate, you'll experience a delightful balance of sweet malts and a gentle bitterness that leaves you wanting more. The alcohol content, around 9.5%, is well-hidden, making it a dangerously smooth drink.

Just 9.5%

Be careful with that beer as it comes with delightful 9,5% of alc

This kind of beer you drink slowly for the taste. I decided to need some more taste as I found another one in fridge of my friend.
