A recitation of poem ‘পুরাতন’ by Rabindranath Tagore
Yesterday was the first day of spring. It was Valentine's Day as well which has added a new extent to it. Lots of poems have been written over the ages about love and spring. Rabindranath Tagore is one of the poets who wrote poems about spring season. The beauty of spring has come up in many of his poems. ‘Puraton’ is such a poem. In this poem, it is said to remove the abandoned and accept the new one. In the same way that all the old leaves fall from the tree at the end of winter and new leaves sprout in the spring, in this poem the poet also sees the human life similar way and throws away the old one and welcomes the new one. This poem is considered as a combination of happiness and sorrow at the same time. The poet has presented this subject very consciously through this poem. Today I have tried to recite this poem, I hope you will enjoy it.
