A recitation of poem ‘অবৈধ’ by Sukanta Bhattacharya
Throughout the ages poets have chosen the season as a special event in composing their poems. For example, Rabindranath Tagore wrote many poems about the monsoon season in his poems because the monsoon was his favorite. However, in our country, spring is a season that is favorite to all starting from the common people to poets. The name of the poem I recited today is ‘অবৈধ’ and it was written by Sukanta Bhattacharya. Sukanta Bhattacharya is a short-lived poet. If he had lived few years more, we would have been able to get many more good poetry and Bengali literature could have been richer. Today's poem is also spring-centric. Since almost every poem written by Sukanta Bhattacharya has a theme of rebellion, so in this poem there is a hint of revolution as well. I tried my best to recite the poem, I hope you will enjoy it.
