Retrieving Information and/or Usable Parts From a Broken Laptop

My wife's laptop had been broken for YEARS and she had a lot of information on there that was valuable to her, but it was now no longer accessible.

I decided that I would change that and salvage the parts that were worth keeping (mainly the RAM, the i3 processor and of course the hard drive with the valuable information).

The next step to retrieving the information would be to buy a USB (and/or Thunderbolt) hard drive enclosure that would then allow you to access the files from another computer.
