Ouch!

I burned myself on Saturday...

Looks pretty gnarly now. The blister peeled in multiple parts, which made the pain so much worse. Honestly, it sucked. But you know what? At least I got something cool out of it.

Tada! Brass ingots! A buddy of mine gave me a bunch of spent bullet casings, which I then melted down. The burn happened while I was dropping a handful of spent bullets into the crucible. I held my hand over the flame too long and while I was wearing gloves to protect me from the heat, it still wasn't enough. So now I've got this burn to deal with.

The bullets gave off a ton of sulfur in the process of melting. I had to use a fair amount of flux to clean the metal. Not to mention my poor little charcoal foundry could barely keep the heat up high enough to melt the brass. I'm gonna have to buy a better foundry eventually, but that's gonna take a while. I want to buy a propane fueled foundry, those burn much cleaner and hotter than my charcoal. It'd be nice to have one of them!
